Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the first part of this exciting series of articles and are ready for more!
This article will cover the main cars in 2 Fast 2 Furious and their respective horsepower before they were modified in the movies.
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro SYC
Stock horsepower: 425 hp
This Camaro was used by the character Korpi in the tag team race against Brian O’Conner and Roman Pearce for pink slips (ownership of a car).
After Roman loses against Darden (Korpi’s partner), Brian is left playing catch-up. With seemingly no chance of catching up, Brian decides to play a game of chicken with Korpi. As the two cars are about to collide, Korpi “chickens out” and swerves off the road, giving Brian enough time to catch up and ultimately win the race.
1993 Toyota Supra Turbo MK IV
Stock horsepower: 320 hp
Slap Jack drives the Supra in the very first race of the movie. As the racers near the finish line, and Slap Jack is in the lead, a bridge jump appears ahead. Brian uses a shot of NOS before the bridge and his car jumps over the Supra to give him the lead and the eventual win.
Much like the 1994 Supra which had a stock 220 horsepower in the first movie, this Supra is the turbo-version, adding 100 more horsepower.
1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)
Stock horsepower: 280 hp
When Tej Parker (played by rapper Ludacris) stalls a street race due to the drivers not finding a fourth racer, he calls Brian O’Conner to see if he wants in on this last-minute race. Brian quickly changes into some clothes and drives the Skyline out of Tej’s garage and to the race.
In the movie, the Nissan Skyline is powered by a 2.6 liter twin turbocharger, giving it over 330 horsepower.
2002 Mitsubishi Evolution VII
Stock horsepower: 276 hp
One of the two cars given to Brian and Roman by the secret agents in order to help catch the villain Carter Verone. The agents planted tracking devices in the cars to monitor the location of Brian and Roman in case they attempted to escape.
The Evolution is equipped with a 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged engine, giving it its 276 horsepower.
2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS
Stock horsepower: 210 hp
The second car given to Roman in order to help capture Carter Verone.
This Spyder had a 3.0-liter V6 engine, giving it an output of 210 horsepower. There was limited work done to the engine, so this was one of the slower cars they used in this movie.
2001 Honda S2000
Stock horsepower: 240 hp
Suki drives this car in the first race of the movie organized by Tej Parker. After completing the draw bridge jump at the end of the race, the car’s front bumper is entirely torn off from the landing.
The S2000 had 2.0-liter aluminum alloy supercharger engine with a bottle of NOS behind the seats.
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T
Stock horsepower: 425 hp
This orange Challenger was driven by Darden in the tag team race for pink slips. Darden is matched up against Roman to start the race.
As Roman uses a shot of NOS to catch up, Darden purposely hits a sign from the side of the road toward Roman, forcing him to brake and swerve out of the way.
The Challenger has a 7.0-liter Hemi big block V8 engine giving it its powerful 425 horsepower.
